“Now you're insulting my intelligence; what you think I am, a fuckin' idiot? You know goddamn well that someone had to get into those machines and set those fuckin' reels. The probability of one four-reel machine is a million and a half to one; the probability of three machines in a row; it's in the billions! It cannot happen, would not happen,...” (continue)(continue reading)Robert De Niro - Sam 'Ace' Rothstein
“It should have been perfect. I mean he had me, Nicky Santoro, his best friend watching his ass. And he had Ginger, the woman he loved on his arm. But in the end, we fucked it all up. It should have been so sweet, too. But it turned out to be the last time that street guys like us were ever given anything that fuckin' valuable again.”Joe Pesci - Nicky Santoro
“No matter how big a guy might be, Nicky would take him on. You beat Nicky with fists, he comes back with a bat. You beat him with a knife, he comes back with a gun. And if you beat him with a gun, you better kill him, because he'll keep comin' back and back until one of you is dead.”
Robert De Niro - Sam 'Ace' Rothstein“It just didn't sink into his head what the Black Book is and what it meant, being banned from every casino is just one thing but being in this book gets you into the brains of every cop and FBI agent in the state, I mean you're listed in there with Al Capone, but Nicky didn't care.”
Robert De Niro - Sam 'Ace' Rothstein“In Vegas, everybody's gotta watch everybody else. Since the players are looking to beat the casino, the dealers are watching the players. The box men are watching the dealers. The floor men are watching the box men. The pit bosses are watching the floor men. The shift bosses are watching the pit bosses. The casino manager is watching the shift...” (continue)(continue reading)

Casino 1995 Robert De Niro Joe Pesci Sharon Stone Biography
When Martin Scorsese announced his Mob-in-Vegas drama Casino in the mid-’90s, there was a distinct feeling of déjà vu , particularly as he was teaming up once again with GoodFellas writer Nicholas Pileggi on the project. But then the director himself voiced the concerns of many when he noted about the ’70s-set drama, ‘This story has to be on a big canvas. It has to be about America. Otherwise, why make another mob story? I couldn’t care less.’
With a cast that features Scorsese regulars Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, the Oscar-nominated Sharon Stone and a group of entertainers who actually performed in Las Vegas in the ’70s (Alan King, Don Rickles, Steve Allen), Casino is an expert examination of small town wise guys who find heaven on earth before frittering it all away.
De Niro stars as Sam ‘Ace’ Rothstein, a top bookie who finds himself enlisted by the Mob to run the Tangiers casino in Vegas. Determined to do things correctly (ie the Mob’s way), he turns the casino into a tremendous success. There are three problems on the horizon, however: Ace’s run-ins with the Gaming Control Board that oversees the Vegas casinos; the appearance of a psychotic old friend, Nicky Santoro (Pesci), who is determined to muscle in on the action; and a beautiful hustler, Ginger McKenna (Stone), with whom Ace falls in love. All three will contribute to Ace’s spectacular downfall.
