Phil Peterson’s 39th Key West Poker Run
By Lulu
Paradise Riders, FPC and Peterson’s Harley Davidson have partnered to create another great event for the 44th annual Peterson’s Harley Davidson Key West Poker Run! Ride over the famous 7-mile bridge to Key West for Thursday’s Duval Crawl, Sunday’s Biker Brunch and everything in between. Every year, an estimated 10,000 motorcycles rumble down the Overseas Highway from Miami to the Key West Poker Run during the third weekend of September in the annual Phil Peterson’s Poker Run. But a little more than three months before this year’s scheduled event, the city of Key West has no agreement with the event organizer.
So the Phil Peterson’s Key West Poker Run is “ON HOLD”. Sorry for all the confusion, we have not been able to get the support of the Local Charities and Volunteers this year. A few things that are for sure there will be No Vending and No Bike Show on Duval Street due to lack of local support. Peterson's Key West Poker Run 2019 Schedule
Every year in September the Peterson’s Harley turns into the start up point for a 5 card stop to Key West. If you haven’t ridden in this one you should put it on your calendar for next year. Not only is it a wild and crazy weekend, it also raises money for the Diabetes Research Institute and the Key West Sunrise Rotary Club. AND you might win a Harley! This year the stops included Gilbert’s Resort & Tiki Bar in Key Largo, Lorelei at mile marker 82, The Island Fish Company in Marathon, Boondocks in Ramrod Key and the final stop Conch Republic in Key West. As usual, we always have a few stops of our own along the way which includes a visit to Robbie’s to watch the tarpon feeding.
Peterson's Key West Poker Run 2019 Date
Once in Key West the festivities kick right in. Our first night in town Deb that rode down with us won $100 bucks at a Hot Biker Chick contest at a party at Southernmost .The Big Bike Riders’ Bike Show attracts a wonderful collection of bikes and bike builders that make Duval St. turn into a fascinating mix of bikes and people, including Downtown Baggers with their fabulous creations. Irish Kevin’s, Sloppy Joe’s and Wild Bill’s are full of bikers enjoying their favorite libations. Saturday night the Hard Rock on Duval put on a bikini contest and concert featuring the AC/DC tribute band, Highway to Hell. Our gang also enjoyed the tattoo contest at Schooner Wharf and listened to a great blues singer Lauren Smoken Band. And we always make time for a trip to Mallory Square. The trip home is long, but Micah and I look forward to next September and our visit to the Keys.
